Renowned designer and television host to judge Miss Cayman Universe pageant
International award winning designer, Charlie Lapson, will be one of the judges for the upcoming Miss Cayman Islands Universe pageant, this Saturday at The Ritz Carlton.
Mr. Lapson is recognised for his collections of jewelry, fashion and lifestyle products. He has been defined by the global press as an authority of style, while Entertainment Tonight has called him “The Designer for the New Millennium” and TIME Magazine referred to him as “One of the Hippest Designers in Los Angeles”.
The committee is pleased to extend a warm Caymankind welcome to Mr. Lapson and is delighted that he has accepted the invitation to be an official judge for the pageant this Saturday.
Pageant seating is on a first-come-first-serve basis, so it is recommended that you get there early to secure your spot. Tickets are CI$75, which includes a welcome drink and canapes. They are available at Funky Tangs and Sand Angels.

Only thirty days away, the Miss Cayman Universe pageant is fast approaching, and the committee
encourages you to purchase your tickets at Funky Tang’s or Sand Angels before they sell out. The 2019
pageant theme is ‘A Magical Affair’ and dress code is cocktail.
This year’s event will be held in the main ballroom at the Ritz Carlton Resort on Saturday, 17 August. As
there is a seating capacity, there will be a very limited quantity of tickets available at the door. The price of tickets remains at CI$75, which includes a welcome drink and canapes. Doors open at 6:00pm, show starts promptly at 7:00pm.
“This year’s six contestants have been working tirelessly on runway and fitness training, in addition to
their upcoming etiquette training session. They are very much looking forward to the event and we are
excited to introduce them on the big stage,” said Committee Chairperson Derri Dacres.

Miss Cayman Universe confirms contestants, sets pageant date
The Miss Cayman Islands Universe committee is pleased to announce that its annual pageant is set for Saturday, 17 August at the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman. This year will see six contestants vying for the crown to compete at the prestigious Miss Universe pageant.
“We are very excited to launch this year’s events and to give the contestants an opportunity to show our community the incredible Caymankind ambassadors they can be,” said Derri Dacres, Committee
Chairperson. “We would also like to thank our sponsors this year – Ministry of Tourism, Cayman
Airways, Radio Cayman and Hurley’s Media – we could not do this without your support.”

The Committee encourages the community to come out to the sashing event on Friday, 19 July at
5:30pm at Grand Old House to support the 2019 contestants. The annual motorcade is set for Saturday,
